so i decided to share with everyone another music video that i really like.
Beyonce- run the world( Girls)
so i lot of people have actually teased me about this video. someone even told me they thought it was one of the worst songs she had ever done. I personally enjoy the song for numrous reasons.
please remember that this is my own personal opinion and in no way meant to insult or harm anyone nor is it a opinion of anyone else.
reason one, because chicks are freaking awesome and i love a powerhouse female lead just as much as i love powerhouse male leads.
Girls, we run this motha (yeah!) [x4]
GIRLS!
[Chorus:]
Who run the world? Girls! [x4]
Who run this motha? Girls! [x4]
Who run the world? Girls! [x4]
[Verse 1:]
Some of them men think they freak this like we do
But no they don't
Make your check come at they neck,
Disrespect us no they won't
Boy don't even try to touch this
Boy this beat is crazy
This is how they made me
Houston Texas baby
This goes out to all my girls
That's in the club rocking the latest
Who will buy it for themselves and get more money later
I think I need a barber
None of these niggas can fade me
I'm so good with this,
I remind you I'm so hood with this
Boy I'm just playing
Come here baby
Hope you still like me
F- you pay me
My persuasion can build a nation
Endless power, with our love we can devour
You'll do anything for me
[Chorus:]
Who run the world? Girls! [x4]
Who run this motha? Girls! [x4]
Who run the world? Girls! [x4]
[Verse 2:]
It's hot up in here
DJ don't be scared to run this, run this back
I'm reppin' for the girls who taking over the world
Help me raise a glass for the college grads
41 rollin' to let you know what time it is, check
You can't hold me (you can't hold me)
I work my 9 to 5, better cut my check
This goes out to all the women getting it in,
You're on your grind
To other men that respect what I do
Please accept my shine
Boy I know you love it
How we're smart enough to make these millions
Strong enough to bear the children
Then get back to business
See, you better not play me
Oh, come here baby
Hope you still like me
F- you hate me
My persuasion can build a nation
Endless power
With our love we can devour
You'll do anything for me
[Chorus:]
Who run the world? Girls! [x4]
Who run this motha? Girls!
[x4] Who run the world? Girls! [x4]
Who are we? What we run? The world (who run this motha, yeah)
Who are we? What we run? The world (who run this motha, yeah)
Who are we? What do we run? We run the world! (who run this motha, yeah)
Who are we? What we run? We run the world
Who run the world? Girls
so yea, If it's any constaltion, i'm a fan of strong females, for the most part I always create strong female characters, Cho is a pretty strong female, and we all can Tell that Riko is very strong.
I have to admit though, the video it self is a little...typical i suppose in the world of man vrs. woman. However, i wonder how many people caught on to the Symbolism used in the video, for instance, look at the animals used.
Hyena's are notorious for there powerful female leaderships. Hyena's are run by a female pack leader, and in turn her daughter, is treated with so much care, that if another cub nips her wrong, that cub could be so severaly hurt, ehh, grousome. though i might be exaderating a little bit. however, what is true, that in a hyena pack, if the lowest rank female, has a cub with the even highest ranked male who's lower ranked then the lowest rank female, the resulting cub can expect a life of a chew toy for the packs cubs and adolestent cubs.
The featured male lion, i don't think i really needs to explain that one, consider the scene he's featured in, is surrounded by a crowd of women stricking powerful poses. The pride, though 'ruled' by a male lion, is nothing more then a sperm donner and muscle against other male lions that might come in and kill the cubs and breeding rights to the females. The females are the real queens, master of the savanahs, they hold down the fort, territory passed from female to female while a male is simply there to reassure that the territory stays theres. though science says differently when you think about it with a fictional twist like most of us writers do, isn't that what's really going on? anywyas, so the imagary is intersting because of this.
as for the horse featured in the begining of the video...well...heh...i think it just looks cool, is there really any other reason for it to be there. you should share your thoughts with me about the horse. i beleive it's a fersisian...i think.
another thing i liked about this video, we all love biyonce yea yea, no what i liked was the back up dancers, if you looked closely, a lot of the girls up front, the lead dancers, were not thin, they were, i guess the best word for it is, think, with a slight stomach. they were all shapes and sizes, and a few, -trying to be polight- weren't...they were average in the face. i liked it as a statement that even they are desirable, weather the media would like to admit it or not. remember at one time, a large woman was prefered over a small skinny boned woman like they are today. that was because it meant she was either poor, sick, or would be unable to successfully bear children.
now for the lyrics...let me show you my favorite line in the whole song.
My persuasion can build a nation
Endless power, with our love we can devour
You'll do anything for me
and
Boy I know you love it
How we're smart enough to make these millions
Strong enough to bear the children
Then get back to business
so yea, pretty much my favorite lines in the whole song. the first one, is more true then many realize, there is always a woman either, ruling or doing something to start a change in soceity. so of my most famous women in history to do so are example, Rosa Parks and Queen Elizabeth. both made change for the better in the world or for people. now, it wasn't just because they were women, by no means, there are just as many men (more then women) who made huge changes in the world. but considering the TIME they came from, it was an exsrodinary thing that they, out of millions, choose to make a difference at that moment, when other woman were more concerned about there children and making there husbands happy as good wives( as most had been raised to beleive). but at the same time, a lot of those powerful men we beleive today, had a strong female behind them, supporting him and encoruaging him to follow the dreams he set out to make come true.
the second line, it's pretty clear what it means, and women have been doing it for millions of years. a lot of there lives kind of demanded that it happen that way, most women were already haveing to get on the feet and clean there homes they very next day after giving birth. others of better family standing, had wet nurses, and a few days of rest.
well, that's about it, this i guess would be considered my first 'review' of something. please share comments and please be polight and considerate of my and other people's opinions. if you don't have nothing nice to say don't say it at all! <3
